    Scotts Above Bar Damper Mount

I am using the above bar Scotts damper mount and bolt on damper post on my 525RS with stock 45 mm forks. The info from Scotts indicate the availability of damper mounting in either the #2 or #3 handlebar positions. Mark at RPS asked Scotts if they could send me a damper mount with the bars in the farthest forward #1 position. Scotts complied and sent the mount along with a slightly longer longer link arm which was required. The mounting setup works perfectly, plus the damper with the longer link arm still fits my KTM's the same as before.

Can you post a photo of your setup? Also, how much did it cost you to set up in the #1 position?

It is a standard over the bar mount. The mounting setup was more expensive than expected at a little over $200. The increased cost was due to the necessary longer link arm and a link arm puller which were required to mount the damper in the #1 handlebar position.

The farthest forward position is #4, #1 is the most rearward (closest to rider)

Oh ok. At 6' tall, I won't need to be concerned with postion 1. I run my SMC in position 3 on the street and position 4 on supermoto courses w/ dirt sections.

OK, if you say so. In that case, my damper is mounted in the #4 position (farthest from the rider).

I was able to mount my Scotts Damper in the #4 position too, although even they say it won't work. Worked just fine! I have the step lever arm for the Beta, and there is plenty of reach to the pin. Same unit fits right into the SUB mount I have on my 690 SMC too so this street unit is doing double duty until I order the dirt-specific unit from Scotts.

You could save some money by having Scotts convert the road-specific damper to a dirt-specific damper - - unless you need both dampers.

I'm planning to buy a dirt damper from Scotts. They said since I bought two brackets from them that I could remind them of it and get a little bit of a discount on the damper. I want to get it before summer's end, if I can. Problem is cash is just bleeding everywhere since I own three bikes and an older truck. I really ought to sell the sportbike I own.

Hi Guys I am in the market for an 08 or 09 450RR and was wondering if any KTM above bar scotts mounts fit the beta. I have a few different ones in the garage and was looking into options...

    Thanks!
