A great site to complement a great bike.
After a lifetime riding the slab, I "discovered" dirt riding about 2 years ago when I took an unplanned ride in the gravel on my Kawasaki Concours 14. My first adventure bike was the ubiquitous KLR and I loved it. It's a comfortable, reliable machine that got me where I wanted to go without a whole lot of fuss or pain. However, the shortcomings of the KLR began to become more pronounced as I began to push the envelope of civilized riding. Mass without a good suspension is not a good thing on the "A" trails.
Last spring, my search for the perfect bike led me at Bill's shop (5th Gear) where I was treated to an array of options, the best of which was the Beta. It was love at first ride.
Long story short...The KLR is gone (well, going this weekend) and the 525RR and I have already been to ORCA, Loose Screw, Death Valley, South Eastern Oregon, the Chilcotin and a whole lot of other weekend rides. It may be little, but it is a mighty adventure bike that does it all. Throw a Giant Loop bag on the back and we're good for a couple of weeks.
I look forward to meeting many of you enlightened Beta riders out there.
2beers
